The leadership of Kogi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for distancing himself from the choice of the APC governorship candidate in the November 21st governorship election in the state.

The party also described the president’s action as wise and commendable so as not to dent his well-built image.

Speaking through its publicity secretary, Bode Ogunmola, as signed in a statement in Lokoja, the PDP commended Buhari for not allowing himself to be swayed by political antics to support the choice of his party’s governorship candidate, Prince Abubakar Audu who is standing trial for corruption.

The party further stated that the body-language of President Muhammadu Buhari is quite obvious, pointing out that a man like him who is well known for his integrity, will not allow his image to be dragged to the mud.

The statement further vowed that the PDP will not stop to support and join hands in the fight against corruption in Nigeria.

As stated by the statement, the president has proven that he is above board and would not be swayed by his party’s sentiments to drum his blessings to a candidate that is yet to prove his innocence in a corruption charge.

It described the PDP guber candidate and the incumbent governor, Capt. Idris Wada, as the best choice for the people of the state, pointing out that Wada is not only incorruptible but prudent, transparent and humble.

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and publicity, Mallam Shehu Garba last week stated he was not in any way against the candidature of the APC governorship candidate in the state, Prince Abubakar Audu, as peddled by the opposition party.
