Police in Zamfara state have gone in search of the gunmen that reportedly killed at least 30 persons in some villages in the northwest state.
Commissioner of police in the state, Kenneth Ebrimson said a police patrol team responded swiftly to the distress call of attacks on Sikida and Gyadde villages of Gidan Goga district in Maradun area.
Famzn News understands that the bandits fled after killing three persons, following the arrival of the security operatives.
Ebrimson confirmed on Thursday that the team police team would comb the bush in the communities with the aim of arresting the perpetrators of the attacks.
Some eyewitnesses had claimed that the attacks were carried out concurrently in the early hours of Tuesday, while many villagers were wounded in the process.
The attackers were said to have stormed the villages on motorbikes, shooting sporadically at residents and carting away their livestock.
