Wojciech Szczesny's future looks will be decided at the end of the week with Italian side Roma desperate to sign a goalkeeper.
The Polish shot-stopper is currently on holiday as Arsenal and Roma negotiate over terms of the season-long loan deal, with the β¬3 million loan fee the only sticking point as it stands.
With Morgan De Sanctis sold to Monaco, Εukasz Skorupski injured for two months and Brazilian 'keeper Allison unable to speak Italian, Roma's goalkeeping situation has forced Luciano Spalletti to set a deadline for the move.
Spalletti has already made tentative enquiries for Paris Saint-Germain'sΒ Salvatore Sirigu, according to reports in France, which would suggest that the Serie A giants are prepared to look at alternate options if the Szczesny deal doesn't come to fruition.
Szczesny has made it clear that he will fight for his place at Arsenal is he is forced to, but would prefer the option of regular first team football in Rome where he impressed last season.
The 25-year-old would face competition from Petr Cech and the wantaway David Ospina, while Matt Macey is expected to be promoted to third choice goalkeeper for the coming campaign.
Arsenal have agreed to contribute to part of Szczesny's β¬3m-a-year salary but are refusing to budge on the loan fee for the same amount. It's expected that a final decision on the Pole's whereabouts will be made on Friday.
