West Ham have turned down the chance to sign Robin van Persie even though he was willing to take a pay cut, according to the Daily Mail.
The Hammers reportedly held talks over a move for the former Arsenal and Manchester United marksman after he was offered to them by Fenerbahce.
But West Ham decided against following negotations up with a formal offer, despite Van Persie being willing to reduce his wages by more than half to return to the Premier League.
West Ham have made no secret of their desire to add a big-name forward to their squad ahead of the new Premier League season, but have missed out on several targets so far including Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy and Michy Batshuayi, who opted to join Chelsea from Marseille.
