The former Austria youth international was involved in a fireworks accident that caused the defender to lose his left hand, but the 29-year-old is now ready to return to action
Andreas Schicker is set to make his return to professional football wearing a prosthetic hand following successful surgery.
The former Austria Under-21 international has signed for second division side SC Wiener Neustadt in his homeland and is expected to make his debut for the recently relegated side against LASK Linz on Friday.
Schicker, 29, was involved in an accident with fireworks in November 2014 injuring both his hands, which ultimately lead to the left being amputated.
The defender took part in a behind-closed-doors friendly fixture on Saturday. Coach Gunther Kreissi claimed afterwards that the opposition were unaware of Schicker's prosthetic arm.
He told Austrian newspaper Kurier: "I am convinced that no one from the opponents noticed his handicap."
