Kaduna-central senator Shehu Sani has requested all those that betrayed the late Moshood Abiola within the June 12, 1993 presidential election to apologise to his household.
The lawmaker was reacting to President Muhammadu Buhari’s apology to the household of the presumed winner of the election, the late Abiola.
President apologised at a particular investiture and nationwide honours awards held in honour of him and different heroes of Nigeria.
He tendered the apology on behalf of Nigerians and everybody concerned within the battle for democracy, after the election was annulled.
And Senator Sani, who was a visitor on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Tuesday, referred to as on all these concerned within the annulment of the election to additionally apologise.
“The president’s apology is on behalf of the whole country. Not just to the family, but to everybody who voted for Abiola,” he stated.
“But there is also the need for those who had a hand in that annulment to also apologise and also, the political class that betrayed Abiola, because right now the issue is at the front burner but we know very well that in the last 25 years, there were people who ate and drank with Abiola and at the end of the day, ended up betraying him.”
