The House of Representatives Speaker, Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has been declared the winner of the Saturday's Sokoto State governorship election. The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) defeated his main rival of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senator Abdalla Wali in the contest. The result collation commenced at 7.07 am in the auditorium of the Sultan Muhammadu Maccido Institute for Koranic and General Studies, Sokoto. The Returning Officer, Prof Abdul Bagudu, who is also the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) of the Usman Danfodio University, presided over the exercise. Announcing the results, he noted that The Nigerian Police Force, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) , and Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) witnessed the collation and announcement of the result. Besides, personnel of the different security agencies Condon vehicles and unauthorized persons from the collation centre throughout the duration of the collation that was as peaceful as the election in most of the polling units.
