The former Tottenham striker has notched six goals and nine assists for Villarreal this season but feels a return to the international scene is move deserving of the 35-year-old
Roberto Soldado says talk the Villarreal striker could earn a Spain call-up is disrespectful to Aritz Aduriz.
The former Tottenham man his rediscovered his scoring touch in La Liga, notching six goals and nine assists for far this season, after a torrid time in the Premier League.
Soldado is now reportedly in line for a return to Vicente del Bosque's squad but the 30-year-old has been more impressed by Adruiz, who has scored 26 goals in 36 appearances for Athletic Bilbao this season.
"Talking about me going to the national team is a lack of respect for what Aduriz is doing," Soldado told Al Primer Toque.
Next up for Soldado is Villarreal's Europa League last-32 second leg against Napoli, of which the Liga side lead 1-0 on aggregate, and the striker is looking forward to facing friends Gonzalo Higuain and Pepe Reina again.
"Higuain is an example and I’m happy for him because he has fought hard for this," he added.
"Reina is a great friend. I wasn't lucky enough to score against him last week and hopefully I can [in the second leg].
"We're confident in ourselves. It won't be an easy game but we're confident we'll continue. I don’t rely on anything Napoli might do or the changes they could make."
