Three undetonated explosives were recovered at the scene of the blasts that rocked Kuje, a suburb of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja on Friday.
This was disclosed by a soldier while dispersing a crowd that had gathered to take a look at the bomb scene on Saturday afternoon.
Speaking angrily to the crowd as they dispersed, the soldier who later simply identified himself as David said it was wrong for the crowd made up of mainly youths and market women to gather near the scene of the incident for any reason because anything could still happen.
He also threatened a woman selling plantain nearby that he would come and scatter her wares if anybody should cross her again to go near the scene where the explosion had occurred.
The soldier said, “We are not happy that we are here. Some of us have been here since 11 pm yesterday (Friday). We have not taken our bath.
“Do you think we will go near the scene if we don’t have bomb detectors. We have recovered three explosives that had not exploded.”
Speaking to a correspondent he said, “This is the third time I am coming here to disperse them. Some of them are criminals. They want to steal the goods that had been left here by some of the traders so that it would be blamed on soldiers.”
Again, turning to the woman selling plantain the soldier blurted, “If they cross that place again, I will come and scatter your things. This is the last time I will come here again.”
