This is the longer version of Ssangyong’s compact SUV, called the Tivoli XLV featuring a massive boot.
Sharing the same platform with the regular model, the Tivoli XLV offers a lengthened by 238mm body, increasing dramatically the boot capacity to 720lt of space.
The two models share the same 2,600mm wheelbase as all the extra length was added from behind the C pillar. Ssangyong claims that three full-size adults can fit with comfort at the rear, even on long journeys, thanks to the inclination of the second row of seats at an angle of 32.5 degrees and the rear flat floor.
As with the regular Tivoli, the XLV will be offered with two engine options, a 128ps 1.6-litre petrol and a 115PS 1.6-litre diesel. Customers will be able to choose between a six-speed manual and a six-speed Aisin automatic gearbox.
More expensive versions of the Tivoli XLV will feature the company’s intelligent all-wheel drive system, which under normal road conditions sends the power to the front wheels, enabling the rear axle when necessary.
“SsangYong has gone a step further by launching an extended car to provide even more carrying capacity and practicality - the XLV,” said Johng-sik Choi, Ssangyong’s CEO. “This was shown as the XLV Air concept at the IAA motor show in Frankfurt the previous year, and from the extremely favorable feedback we received, took the decision to put the car into production.”
“Following its international debut at Geneva, the SsangYong XLV will go on sale across Europe and around the world from May, and we forecast annual sales from the Tivoli platform including XLV will exceed 100,000 cars this year.”
