Wife of the Inspector General of Police, Mrs Agharase Arase, has cautioned young mothers against dumping their new born babies in dustbins and gutters.
She stated the act was painful and deeply disturbing.
The IG’s wife who is the President, Police Officers Wives Association, POWA, spoke in Port Harcourt, yesterday, when POWA donated food items to children at an orphanage home.
Mrs. Arase, who was represented by the Chairperson, Rivers State Chapter of POWA and wife of the state Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Margaret Kimo, stated the donation to Port Harcourt Children Home was part of the activities lined up for the police week.
While urging young girls to abstain from premarital s3x, she thanked managers at the home for being there for the children, praying that God will not stop to reward them for their service to the children.
”Our young girls who take the risk of giving birth, it is sad to hear you dump them in the dust bin. God should have mercy on such people. It is not easy taking care of children as a mother, I know the challenge.
“God will bless you (workers at the home ) for giving hope to these children,” she stated.
She further urged well-meaning Nigerians to identify with the home.
Items donated to the orphanage included cartons of noddles and bags of rice.
