Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State has thrown his weight behind the selection of a consensus presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He made this know shortly after picking up presidential nomination forms from the Wadata Plaza headquarters of the PDP on Thursday.
He joins notable politicians like Senate President Bukola Saraki, former vice-president Atiku Abubakar, former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, former caretaker chairman of the party Senator Ahmed Makarfi, amongst others.
When asked if he will support consensus, Tambuwal said: “I can’t say there is no need for consensus; it is part of democratic process.
“If there is a possibility of it, why not? If it is not possible, then, we all go for the primaries.
“But I believe that PDP of today is capable of organising free, fair, credible and transparent primaries.”
