The former England centre-back announced on social media that he will not be able to shake off a hamstring injury that has seen him miss the Blues' last four matches
Chelsea captain John Terry has confirmed he will miss Wednesday's crucial Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain.
The 35-year-old was forced off with a hamstring injury in the first-half of the 5-1 win over Newcastle United on February 13 and has not featured in any of the Blues' four matches since.
Interim manager Guus Hiddink had suggested that it would be highly unlikely that the former England centre-back would be able to recover in time to face PSG and the defender has now confirmed himself that he is unavailable.
Writing on his Instagram account he said: "I'm gutted to be missing the PSG game. It's so frustrating missing any game, but these big Champions League nights at the Bridge are unbelievable and it hurts as a player not to be involved.
"I have thrown everything at my injury trying to get back fit but sometimes you have to let the injury settle, and thankfully I'm on the mend and hope to be back soon."
Chelsea head into Wednesday's last-16 second-leg clash looking to overturn a 2-1 deficit, with goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani having put PSG in front in the tie.
