Tesla chief govt Elon Musk has accused an worker of finishing up "extensive and damaging sabotage" on the electrical carmaker.
In an electronic mail to employees, Mr Musk stated an unnamed worker made unspecified coding modifications to its manufacturing working system and despatched delicate knowledge to unnamed third events.
The firm didn't remark and the allegations haven't been verified.
The matter shall be investigated, Mr Musk stated.
"The full extent of his actions are not yet clear, but what he has admitted so far is pretty bad," he stated within the electronic mail.
"His said motivation is that he wished a promotion that he didn't obtain.
"As you know there are a long list of organizations that want Tesla to die," he additionally stated, citing Wall Street short-sellers, oil and fuel corporations and rival automobile makers as being amongst them.
In a separate electronic mail to employees, Mr Musk stated there had been a small hearth at a Tesla manufacturing unit on Sunday.
It was rapidly extinguished and didn't trigger any accidents or vital injury, he additionally stated.
The manufacturing unit hearth adopted a video posted on Twitter by US actress Mary McCormack of a hearth in a Tesla automobile pushed by her husband, British TV director Michael Morris, in Los Angeles.
