Tune into "Texas Eats NOW," airing Mondays through Saturdays at 10 a.m., and Saturdays and Sundays at 11 p.m. on KSAT 12, KSAT.com, and KSAT Plus, their complimentary streaming application, for a vibrant exploration of San Antonio's culinary and seasonal festivities.

Dia de los Muertos at La PanaderΓa

La PanaderΓa is honouring its cultural heritage this season with an extensive Dia de los Muertos celebration. Throughout the season, the bakery features community altars at all five of its locations across San Antonio, Texas. Guests can also admire hand-painted calaveras on display, offering a rich cultural experience alongside their delicious baked goods.

A yearly staple, Pan de Muerto, is complemented this season by innovative Concha Muertos – a delightful fusion of a concha and a pan de muerto. Also available are pumpkin conchas and the intricately hand-decorated Talavera Pan de Muertos, which, due to the five minutes required for each decoration, are produced in limited quantities. For those seeking savoury options, a new Hawaiian burger is on offer, featuring grilled pineapple, grilled jalapeΓ±os, and bacon, all served on brioche buns made from the same distinctive dough as their conchas.

Haunted History and Fine Dining at The Grey Moss Inn

Situated at 19010 Scenic Loop Rd, Helotes, Texas, The Grey Moss Inn, which first opened its doors in 1929, boasts a rich and often spooky history. Co-owner Martha Valadez recounts tales of unexplained phenomena, including glassware flying off a shelf behind the bar – an incident captured on the restaurant’s security cameras – and faucets on the well tank inexplicably shutting off during remodeling works.

The restaurant’s updated menu focuses on grilled, from-scratch cooking. Their milanesa is prepared with tender fillet mignon, a departure from the traditional sirloin, while their classic fajitas come with a choice of chicken and beef, accompanied by rice and borracho beans. A firm guest favourite is the queso, served with house-made chorizo and homemade corn and flour tortillas. The menu further extends to include enchiladas and tantalising ribeye tacos, generously topped with avocado, cilantro, cheese, and serrano.

Eerie Elegance and Culinary Delights at The Menger Hotel

Located merely minutes from the famed River Walk and just steps away from the historic Alamo, The Menger Hotel at 204 Alamo Plaza, San Antonio, Texas, holds the distinction of being the oldest continuously operating hotel west of the Mississippi. This historic establishment is renowned for its haunted reputation, with particular lore surrounding the second-floor King Ranch suite, where Captain Richard King is said to have passed away. A guest once reported waking around midnight in the suite, feeling a distinct sense of being watched.

The Colonial Room, the hotel’s restaurant, serves lunch and weekend brunch. Its signature mango ice cream pays homage to the mango trees that once flourished on the property, a tradition initiated by the chefs of yesteryear who transformed the fruit into exquisite desserts. Another cherished dish is the Reuben sandwich, crafted with rye bread, fresh corned beef, Swiss cheese, and house-made thousand island dressing, all served with a side of fries and a pickle spear.

Autumnal Adventures and Nighttime Frights at Owl Creek Farm

Owl Creek Farm, located at 12355 Military Dr W, San Antonio, Texas, offers a dual experience, providing family-friendly autumn activities during the day before transforming into "Nightmare at Owl Creek," an outdoor Halloween attraction after dark. The nighttime event features haunted trails, spooky mazes, and terrifying encounters designed to thrill visitors.

During daylight hours, families can enjoy a seasonal pumpkin patch, a petting zoo, pony rides, hayrides, bounce houses, and various play areas where they can interact with friendly farm animals such as goats, sheep, horses, and pigs. As darkness descends, visitors can explore six themed attractions, including the unsettling Haunted Doll Trail, the mysterious Dark End Woods Maze, the carnival-inspired Freak Show, and the winding Barn Maze. For those seeking milder scares, the Cowboy Trail or the extraterrestrial-themed Contact Zone are available, designed with younger visitors in mind. With its blend of daytime autumnal fun and nighttime frights, Owl Creek Farm offers two distinct ways to celebrate Halloween in San Antonio.
