Over 2,000 civil servants suspended by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State in April 2015 are pleading for recall and reinstatement.

The civil servants who claimed they were employed by the immediate past Uduaghan administration have faulted the manner in which they were suspended calling it “illegal” and “unfair.”

Addressing journalists on Sunday, Chairman of the sacked civil servants, Mr Obukowho Regha revealed they were employed on merit.

He also pleaded with the governor to attend to their plight as they were passing through tough times following the action of the state government.

“We have written to the House of Assembly that is supposed to be the mouthpiece for the oppressed and also to check the excesses of the executive arm of government, but to our greatest surprise, nobody dared see anything wrong with the executive, if you dare, you will be suspended, our petition to the house was never read,” he lamented.

Also one of them, Mrs. Josephine Edumor, regretted that some of her colleagues had to resign from their former jobs to pick up an employment offered them by the previous administration only to be kicked out a month later.

“For the past nine years I have been seeking and searching for this job and as God will have it about two years ago, I was given a job, only for the sitting governor to suspend our job with the hope of him recalling us back,” she stated.
