Former Lagos Commissioner of Police Abubakar Tsav has stated the protest on Momday by some policemen within the North East was an act of treason.
Some policemen in Maiduguri, Borno State, had on Monday protested over non-payment of their allowances, amongst different issues.
Reacting in a assertion on Tuesday, the previous police boss harassed that the incident clearly confirmed that there was a dereliction of responsibility and inhumanity on the a part of the police authorities.
Tsav stated: “It is an act of gross indiscipline laced with treason for policemen to embark on demonstration for none funds of their allowances, whereas on operation particularly in unstable areas like Maiduguri which is infested with Boko Haram insurgency.
“The police authorities should know this; if the welfare of the policemen on operation will not be correctly taken care of how can they offer of their finest within the operation?
“There is gross dereliction of duty and inhumanity on the part of the police authorities here and this should be immediately addressed, the policemen involved should not be victimised.”
Tsav, additionally urged the police authorities and the federal authorities to noticeably look into the problem of selective promotions within the organization.
