The Manchester United manager imitated what he perceived to be simulation by Alexis Sanchez during the win over Arsenal but insists that he was wrong to have done so
Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has apologised for performing a dive in front of the forth official during his side's 3-2 win over Arsenal.
The Dutchman comically fell to the floor inside his technical area as he protested to Mike Dean having been unhappy at what he perceived to have been a dive by Gunners winger Alexis Sanchez.
But the United manager has confessed that he was in the wrong and suggested that the fans should not have cheered him for throwing himself to the ground.
He told reporters: "That was too emotional because at that time you are a bit too emotional.
"It is not good for the referee, for the linesman, for the fourth referee. I get criticism when I'm on the bench, now I do for getting off the bench! But it was wrong and I have to apologise.
"[But the fans loved it?] Okay, but the fans are not always wise."
