The holding midfielder is not known for his goal-scoring prowess, but he rifled home a 30-yard thunderbolt in a recent A-League clash with Central Coast Mariners
It is fair to say that Wellington Phoenix midfielder Vince Lia is not known for his goal-scoring. Now 31 years of age, he has never managed to find the target more than once in any given campaign. He has reached that tally already this season, though, with his account opened in his ninth appearance. Lia found the target in some style, too, with a 30-yard thunderbolt rifled into the top corner against Central Coast Mariners. Used to operating in a holding role and breaking up play, the former Australia U20 captain appeared to surprise himself with a moment of magic in the final third on Saturday. He is unlikely to have hit many better strikes in his career, with a stunning effort leaving the Mariners goalkeeper clutching at thin air.
Lia’s long-range special helped Phoenix to all three points in their latest A-League outing, with a 3-0 victory lifting the managerless outfit off the foot of the table. > ..... - Goal
