The 20-year-old midfielder was not included in United’s pre-season squad for their tour of China, but he may have piqued the interest of Mourinho after scoring twice in a 5-1 victory over Salford City on Tuesday night. James Wilson, another player left behind by the new United boss, impressed in the comfortable victory by scoring the early opener, but the goal of the evening was undoubtedly Harrop’s exquisite lob.
