Frank Lampard took his fair share of criticism as he sat out the first three months of the season with a calf injury.
Since his return, though, the Englishman has been striking back at his critics. He delivered his biggest statement yet on Saturday, scoring New York City FC's first ever hat trick in a 5-1 win against the Colorado Rapids.
The three goals brought Lampard's total to eight in eight matches since making his first start of the season on June 18 against Philadelphia.
The 38-year-old notched a back-post finish in the first half, before curling home after a great run in the second half. Lampard finished his hat-trick off late on with a penalty kick.
