Lewis McNall marked his first start for Gateshead with a goal in their 2-1 victory over Maidstone United on Saturday.
The Newcastle United forward joined Steve Watsonβs side on loan last week, making his debut in the midweek draw with Woking.
However, the 18-year-old was in the starting line-up on Saturday when Maidstone came to Tyneside, and didnβt take long to make an impact.
Only three minutes were on the clock when the striker sprang the offside trap and showed good composure to round Stonesβ keeper Lee Worgan and slot home.
Despite having goalkeeper Dan Hanford sent off, Gateshead managed to claim the victory thanks to a winner from another loanee, Burton Albionβs Ben Fox.
McNall is looking to impress at the International Stadium, and manager Watson was delighted to have secured his services.
βYou never know who you can unearth by giving young players a chance at senior football and if you know where the goal is and youβre composed in front of it then it doesnβt matter what level you are at,β said Watson of McNallβs capture.
βHopefully Lewis will be able to cope well with the league and can make a big impact during his time here and kick-on from there.β
