Manchester City winger Jesus Navas says lifting the Premier League title in 2014 was the greatest achievement of his glittering career.
The World Cup and European Championship-winner will be hoping to help his club get off to the perfect start on Saturday when new coach Pep Guardiola leads them for the first time as they host Sunderland.
And Navas will be hoping it’s just the first step on the way to repeating their 2013-14 title-winning heroics.
“Winning the Premier League was awesome as it was a great achievement in my life,” he exclusively told Goal.
“That year was amazing because we won the Premier League title and the League Cup.”
Navas joined Man City from hometown club Sevilla in 2013 after being drawn to the high-pace Premier League, but says the secret to his success in England was making as few changes to life away from the game as possible.
“I had lived all my life in Sevilla. I had all my friends there, but the truth is I felt it was my moment. I wanted to do the jump to Premier League because I liked level of pace at which it was played,” he said.
“I didn’t make many changes as I am a very relaxed person. I like being with my family. I am here with my wife and my son and I think that’s the most important thing for me.”
