Former presidential aide Reno Omokri has said the victory of Kayode Fayemi in the Ekiti governorship election means President Muhammadu Buhari might lose in 2019.

Fayemi, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was on Sunday declared the winner of the election, beating the Peoples Democratic Party’s Kolapo Olusola-Eleka.

Reacting to the announcement, Omokri noted that while PDP (ruling party at the federal level then) won the election in Ekiti in 2014, it lost at the federal level.

According to him, such scenario is likely to play out in 2019 now that the ruling party (APC) has won in Ekiti.

“Ekiti’s election was NOT free and fair. It was more of a federal military invasion than an election,” he posted on Twitter.

“Even with APC’s questionable victory, I remind Buhari of history: PDP WON Ekiti’s gubernatorial election in 2014 but LOST the 2015 Presidential election. It is yet Uhuru for PMB!”

He also said: “Ekiti people, Seeing as you will now have an APC Governor, be wise. Keep resisting the following as you did under Fayose: * Cattle Colonies * Herdsmen attack. Remember that Ekiti is beyond PDP/APC. Never forget @GovAyoFayose’s sacrifice for you, because they will go after him!”
