Ex-Juventus, Milan and Inter manager Alberto Zaccheroni has been sacked by Beijing Guoan following the club's worst start to a Chinese Super League campaign.
The 63-year-old, who joined the capital club in January, paid the price for only two wins in their previous nine games, which saw them slip to 12th in the league table, just one point above the relegation zone.
Zaccheroni signed a two-year deal following his resignation from Japan's international team, but the Italian will now look elsewhere following a dismal spell in China, where a 2-0 home defeat to Hebei China Fortune sealed his fate.
A club statement read "Beijing Guoan Football Club regrets to announce that Alberto Zaccheroni has left his position as First Team Manager with immediate effect. A new coaching team, headed by ex-Guoan player Xie Feng, will lead the team for the upcoming matches."
Zaccheroni's departure ended the third shortest managerial reign in Guoan's club history, with the much-travelled ex-Serie A boss lasting just 120 days at the helm.
