The Nigerian Army has killed no fewer than 10 Boko Haram members in an operation at Ngelkona in Ngala space of Borno state, Northeast Nigeria.
The operation was carried out by troops of 153 Task Battalion with help of the Cameroonian Defence Forces deployed in Operation Lafiya Dole at about 11:30 a.m, in accordance with spokesman for the military Col. Onyema Nwachukwu.
“The terrorists, who were mounted on horse-back were overpowered by the troops in a fierce shoot out, as the troops killed the insurgents and recovered two AK 47 rifles from them,” he mentioned.
Other objects recovered from the insurgents embody one Boko Haram flag, a set of bow and arrows, two cell handset and one Cameroonian International Passport.
“In a separate clearance operation, troops of 82 Task Force Battalion of Operation Lafiya Dole on Saturday night attacked and routed fleeing elements of Boko Haram insurgents at Ngoshe in Gwoza Local Government Area,” he additionally mentioned.
“During the assault, troops killed one rebel and recovered one AK 47 rifle, 41 rounds of regionally fabricated ammunition and 4 Improvised Explosive Devices(IED).
The recovered IEDs have been safely defused by the Explosive Ordce Disposal workforce he mentioned.
