The new Tucson is no shrinking violet when it comes to design
1. Bold-looking. The new Tucson is no shrinking violet when it comes to design. The big, bold grille announces its presence in no uncertain terms and this is a good thing β because in this instance, it makes a statement about the subtle style of the rest of the car that owners will appreciate.
2. Fresh interior. The cabin isnβt quite as bold as the exterior, but it is does retain some of the sense of style. More understated, but still well resolved, the dashboard and main controls are easy to look at and live with.

3. Space isnβt the final frontier. The Tucson is a midsize crossover in the same class as the Nissan Qashqai, but space isnβt in short supply β indeed, adults wonβt have too much problem fitting in the rear if theyβre of average size.
4. And a roomy boot, too. Thankfully β especially for families β Hyundai hasnβt created space in the rear of the car by compromising on the bootspace. Thereβs a more-than-decent 488 litres (513 if you eschew a full-sized spare) with all the seats in place, which compares favourably with the Qashqaiβs 430 litres. And, if you drop the 60:40-split rear bench, you can manage 1,478 litres β although this less than the Qashqai, thanks, in part, to the seats not folding perfectly flat.

The dashboard and controls are easy on the eyes
5. Efficient engines. Available with a choice of three engines β a 1.6-litre petrol unit, or 1.7-litre or 2.0-litre diesels β the Tucson is well equipped to meet the demands of most of most owners when it comes to running costs. The 1.7 diesel is our pick: a good all-rounder, itβs refined, returns a creditable 61.4mpg and emits just 119g/km of CO2.
The Tuscon's roomy boot makes it an ideal family car
6. Comfort is key. One of the most impressive aspects of the new Tucson is the way that it leaves all the carβs occupants unflustered when faced with some of the worst aspects of Britainβs roads β the speed humps and potholes that many urban owners of the car will face. Its supple suspension is impressive and will be an appealing feature for many buyers on test-driving.
7. Good value. Even the lower-spec cars come fitted with good levels of standard kit (Bluetooth, DAB, USB, LED lights, alloy wheels) and, when you factor in the five-year unlimited mileage warranty and fixed-price servicing plans, it adds up to a good-value package, with prices from just Β£18,695.
