image The Elections Petitions Tribunal in Ekiti State will handle only six petitions filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to challenge the results of the March 28 and April 11 National and state Assemblies elections in some affected areas. Three major parties – the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), APC and Labour Party (LP) – participated in the elections in the state. While LP state chairman, Hon Akin Omole, said his party would not challenge the results of the elections as a policy, the lawyer of APC, Mr Ibrahim Olanrewaju, told newsmen in Ado Ekiti yesterday that his party filed six petitions to challenge six seats in the elections. It would be recalled that PDP candidates won all the three senatorial seats, six House of Representatives seats and 26 House of Assembly seats in the election. As stated by Olanrewaju, APC filed two petitions for the senatorial election while four were filed for the state House of Assembly election to challenge the victory of the PDP candidates in the affected areas He said the petitions for the senatorial election were filed by the APC candidates in Ekiti Central senatorial district, Mr Gbenga Olofin, and the senator representing Ekiti South senatorial district, Senator Anthony Adeniyi. Olanrewaju said the duo is contesting the declaration of Hon Fatimat Raji-Rasaki and Chief Biodun Olujimi by INEC as winners for Ekiti Central and South senatorial districts respectively. He added that the APC in conjunction with its candidates were also challenging the victories recorded by the PDP candidates in Ado I, Ise Orun, Ekiti South West I and Oye I state constituencies in the election. He said the petitions had been submitted to the tribunal secretariat located within the premises of Ekiti State High Court in Ado Ekiti.
