The governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi dished out a cash gift of N2 million to Rangers so to beat regional rivals Enyimba in a Week 20 NPFL match today.
Rangers, who will hit Aba today with a full complement of their players, hope to avenge a 2-1 loss they suffered at home to Enyimba before a packed Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu two weeks ago.
Rangers were hosted to a dinner on Thursday inside the executive chambers of the governor and were mandated to go to Aba and win then come back and get their salaries running into five months cleared.
A very reliable source that witnessed the event said that everybody who matters in sports and football in the state was at the dinner with the governor.
“It was a very down to earth session with the governor who in his magnanimity gave the players the sum of two million Naira as a motivation to go to Aba and beat Enyimba on Sunday with a promise to clear their arrears of salaries on return,” disclosed the source.
