It has only been a week since 
"Cavani has a great chance to become the attacking focal point of the team," Emery said. "He has great potential to grow and it is the club's challenge, his and mine."
That does not mean, however, that PSG will not look for another No.9 to compete with the Uruguayan. Cavani will start the season up front, but he must prove he is deserving of the club's faith quickly.
Decide on a midfield system
With the signing of Grzegorz Krychowiak, PSG have five holding midfielders - Krychowiak, Blaise Matuidi, Marco Verratti, Thiago Motta and Benjamin Stambouli - competing for two positions in Emery's 4-2-3-1 system, though he has expressed a willingness to be flexible. "The formation is decided according to the players who are available," the coach said. "A philosophy can be imposed but I do not have ideas of making great change."
If Emery does wish to make room for some younger players in midfield next season, he will need to show others the door. He does not intend to rush, though, and wants to see all of the players at his disposal before making any decisions.
The first players to return will head to a training camp in Austria on Friday before returning on Tuesday. Then, it will be off to the United States with the full squad for the International Champions Cup.
Choose between Marquinhos and David Luiz
There could also be a departure at centre-back. Marquinhos, a serious target of Barcelona's, wanted guarantees of first-team football at PSG if he was to stay at the club. He was given such assurances by Laurent Blanc and Emery has also accepted them. This can be seen in the current club vs country row over the Olympic Games, which Marquinhos would like to feature at but PSG want to hold him back from to prepare for the new campaign.
That is a situation Emery will have to manage. David Luiz, meanwhile, is waiting patiently to discover his fate but knows that a decent offer will tempt PSG to sell.
Nurture the club's young talent
The academy is another point, like the Champions League, that Al-Khelaifi has been clear on. He wants to see the young talent developed within the club's ranks used more frequently and will endorse a change in transfer policy that sees club chiefs consider the internal candidates available to strengthen particular positions before they dip into the market.
Lorenzo Callegari, Alec Georgen, Odsonne Eduoard, Presnel Kimpembe and Christopher Nkunku are among those hoping to make their mark in the first team and will have the opportunity to prove themselves during the first few weeks of pre-season. The departure and subsequent progression of Kingsley Coman has not gone down well and remains fresh in the mind.
