A couple of months after being revealed, sales of the Honda BR-V have just kicked off in Thailand.

Produced exclusively for the Thai market, the BR-V is a sub-compact crossover with room to seat seven in comfort. The only engine available is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder i-VTEC unit pumping out 117 hp and connected to a continuously variable transmission.

While the engine isn't very powerful, it can support both normal unleaded petrol and E85 ethanol, a much cleaner and more environmentally-friendly alternative to fossil fuels.

Beyond its engine, other important features of the BR-V include dual front airbags, vehicle stability assist, electronic brake distribution, hill start assist and anti-lock brakes. There are also LED headlights and taillights as standard as well as roof rails.

In the cabin, the BR-V can be ordered as either a five-seat or seven-seat model. Both configurations come complete with a 6.1-inch touchscreen and infotainment system supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and include Bluetooth connectivity, USB, AUX and HDMI sockets. A rearview camera is also standard equipment as is a push button start.

Locally, Thai buyers will have to part ways with at least 750,000 baht (~$21,000) for the five-seat variant and 820,000 baht (~$22,900) for the seven-seater.
