Newcastle United fans have been left excited by the prospect of Daniel Sturridge arriving on loan for the rest of the season.
However there are worries over his injury record with the England international having the unfortunate tendency to suffer injury after injury.
But he’s now thought to be fully fit and wanting first-team football to ensure his seat on the plane to Russia, as England head to the World Cup this summer.
Many United fans raised concerns about Sturridge’s injury record but conceded that the 28-year-old is ‘better’ than what the Magpies currently have on their books.
On social media, GazTone90 tweeted: “Never really rated Sturridge as a top-class striker but he is certainly better than what we have.”
While Steve Wildsmith wrote: “Newcastle are desperate for a striker, Sturridge is a very good striker who needs to impress before World Cup. This makes far too much sense to be true.”
Others however were not too sure about his arrival and Gary Foster urged Mike Ashley to get Nicolai Jorgensen from Feyenoord.
He tweeted: “I cannot believe we will pay Sturridge his wages and he is made of glass! Pay the extra £5m if Rafa wants Jorgensen and give us a chance of staying up.”
