The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges of joint criminal breach of trust and cheating levelled against him.

The police prosecutor, Kelechi Echendu told the court that one Sunday Onejite Delly of Lagos State, on March 12, complained at the Area Command office, of how the accused, fraudulently and dishonestly collected the sum of N334,000 with 21 international e-passports of various individuals with pretence to procure South African visa for them to travel for a 3-day Energy Summit by Energy Commission of Nigeria and South African government.

He stated the accused and one Emeka, now at large, converted the money to their own use and retained the e-passports given to them.

In his ruling, the Magistrate, Mohammed Kutigi granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two reasonable sureties, one who must be a civil servant of Grade Level 8, resident within the court jurisdiction.

The case was adjourned to the 24th of August for hearing.
