The Barcelona defender's social media activity could land him in hot water after the anti-violence commission sent a report to the disciplinary committee over his Tweets

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique is not worried about a possible investigation into his Twitter activity which could leave him in trouble with Spanish football's disciplinary committee.

The Spain international has always been outspoken on social media, which has prompted a great deal of controversy in Spain in recent months.

The centre-back mocked his side's fierce rivals Real Madrid on Twitter when the club had mistakenly fielded the ineligible Denis Cheryshev in the Copa del Rey, leading to them being disqualified from the tournament.

Pique defended his joke shortly afterwards, but it led to some bad blood between him and national team colleague Alvaro Arbeloa and Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo.

Spanish football's anti-violence commission has written a report on Pique's social media activity and sent it to the disciplinary committee, who are then to decide if it needs to be investigated further.

However, the news does not bother the 28-year-old, who was named Catalan sportsman of the year on Monday.

"Let them look over my tweets," he told reporters as he picked up his award.

"They’re there for them to look over. What difference does it make whether I think it’s fair or not when they’re just going to do whatever they feel like anyway?"

Pique is often a target for groups of fans in Spain and was recently ridiculed by Espanyol supporters during a Copa del Rey clash, as banners were on display which made fun of his partner, Shakira.

"I have nothing to say on the matter of those signs," he said when asked about it. "If I had anything to say, I’d bring it up on Twitter!"
