Polish PM Urges Immediate Iran Evacuation
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has issued an urgent directive for all Polish citizens to evacuate Iran immediately, warning that the window for safe departure may close within hours due to escalating regional tensions and the significant possibility of armed conflict with the US.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s stark warning comes amidst a backdrop of escalating military tensions following the failure of recent nuclear talks to yield any meaningful progress. He unequivocally stated: "Please leave Iran immediately… and do not go to this country under any circumstances." The Prime Minister's concern stems from intelligence suggesting that the opportunity for safe civilian evacuation might no longer be feasible "within a few hours" should an armed conflict erupt.
Earlier this week, Donald Trump issued a direct warning to Iran, telling reporters that he believed Iran would not want to face the "consequences" of failing to reach a nuclear deal. This statement has further fuelled fears of imminent military action.
Mounting Tensions and Military Buildup
Dozens of planes are reportedly heading towards the Middle East as the relationship between Iran and the US approaches a critical juncture following the breakdown of nuclear negotiations. An adviser close to Trump told Axios that "The boss is getting fed up. Some people around him warn him against going to war with Iran, but I think there is 90% chance we see kinetic action in the next few weeks."
Sources have also indicated that any potential conflict could likely be a joint operation involving Israel. The deployment of such a significant concentration of US air power in the Middle East has not been witnessed since 2003, underscoring the gravity of the current situation. Meanwhile, footage released on Thursday showed Russia and Iran conducting joint naval exercises in the Sea of Oman, aimed at promoting security and sustainable maritime interactions.
International Travel Warnings
Since anti-government protests broke out in Iran in January, leading to thousands of Iranian citizens reportedly being killed by the Ayatollah’s regime, many countries have issued advisories against all non-essential travel to Iran. However, this is the first explicit warning of immediate evacuation from a European nation in light of the rapidly developing situation.
