Rafa Benitez says he is ready to throw Kenedy straight into Newcastle United’s Premier League survival bid.

The Brazilian Under-23 international won’t be involved for United this weekend as he is cup-tied but he will be in contention for the clash with Burnley on Wednesday.

When asked if he was ready to go if called upon against the Clarets, Benitez said today: “Yeah. Physically he is fine and he is training with the team.

“It is a question of match fitness but he has played in the cup and has done well.”

Benitez feels that Kenedy’s arrival gives him some options in a host of different positions and when asked how he will use him, Benitez said: “He’s a player we were monitoring in August and we needed this position filled.

“He is still a young player and one that has to improve but he knows the Premier League.

“There are a lot of positives in terms of that because he has energy and quality.

“He’s still young though but he’s a good addition for us.

“Kenedy can play as a wing-back like he has recently.

“He’s also a left full-back or a winger on the left or right.”
