It seems that at this point, Arsenal fans would take any defender in the world to strengthen their backline - and Arsene Wenger is still getting it in the neck for his transfer inertia.
The Gunners faithful reacted angrily on Monday when Jonny Evans was linked to the club.
And news that Everton had swooped for Ashley Williams did nothing to calm them, as they saw the defender as a perfect candidate to add defensive depth to the Arsenal squad.
From calls for the manager to wake up, to frustration at missing out on a "bargain", Twitter heard from fans once the deal was confirmed.
