A clear copy of the 2018 funds will probably be on the desk of President Muhammadu Buhari inside one week from the date of passage, based on the House of Representatives.
The National Assembly handed the N9.12tn funds on Wednesday final week after the Appropriation Bill had spent greater than six months on the legislature.
The ultimate determine was raised by over N508bn from the preliminary estimates of N8.612tn that the President laid earlier than lawmakers on November 7, 2017.
The Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Abdulrazak Namdas, advised Punch in Abuja on Sunday that by Wednesday this week, the funds would have been despatched to the President.
He defined that there was not a lot work left to be executed on the funds aside from for the Senate and House Conference Committees to satisfy and harmonise the variations within the doc.
Namdas defined, “The areas of variations are simply three, together with the availability that the Executive shouldn't spend any funds exterior this funds with out appropriation by the National Assembly.
“This was inserted to take care of extra-budgetary spending like fuel subsidy or what they call ‘under recovery.’ The Senate is not likely to oppose the provision. On all other areas like the total budget size of N9.12tn, we are on the same page. There is really nothing much to cause further delays.”
When contacted, the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation, Chris Azubuogu, stated that the Senate and the House would meet in convention at the moment (Monday).
Azubuogu mentioned, “After the convention, the harmonised report will probably be adopted on Tuesday by each chambers and that will probably be all.
“The rest of the work, which is to clean up the budget, will be done by the Office of the Clerk to the National Assembly, who will thereafter transmit the budget to Mr. President.”
