The ancient town of Ikere-Ekiti came alive, as an oil and shipping magnate, Otunba Sola Adewumi and his wife, Oluwakemi donated a multimillion naira building to the community. The expansive building, which will serve as the administrative office and multi purpose centre for the palace of Ogoga of Ikere Ekiti, Oba Adejimi Adu was commissioned by the former President of the Nigeria Bar Association, (NBA), Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) who is also a native of the ancient town.
Speaking at the event, Adewumi listed the facilities at the well-furnished building, which include offices for the monarch Oba Adejimi Adu, his wife, palace staff and a state of the art hall that sits 150 people.
Olanipekun, who commissioned the state of the art edifice, charged other indigenes of the community to follow the footstep of the Asewunmi by assisting to develop the town.
While noting that the gesture of Adewumi was worthy of emulation, he noted that the donor had earlier built and donated a non-profit event centre in the town and was also building a hotel in the state to create jobs for the indigenes.
Olanipekun further revealed that he had secured licence to establish a radio station in lkere Ekiti as further contribution to the development of the community and of Ekiti State.
